Your year, read in the sky of your birthday

Every year, on your birthday, the Sun returns to exactly where it was when you were born. The chart of that moment is your year-ahead chart, or solar return: the tone of the twelve months that open, the area of life that comes to the fore, what opens, what asks for work, and a calendar of key periods. I cast it, read it with your natal chart, and send it to you as a PDF within 2 hours.

An astrological reading, written or live, is a time for self-knowledge. It is neither psychological care nor medical, legal or financial advice, and it does not replace a health professional. Scope of the service (Terms, art. 9)

What you will know about your year

  • The tone of the year

The year’s Ascendant and Sun: the overall mood of the twelve months, what the year asks of you, the stance that will serve you best.

  • The area that takes the lead

The natal house where the year’s Ascendant falls: work, relationship, home, money, health, creativity, studies… One sector moves to the centre, and it is often the one you already felt shifting.

  • What opens, what closes

The year’s Jupiter, Saturn and angles: where momentum comes easily, where you have to build patiently, what you will let go of and what you will take on.

  • Your emotions and your energy

The year’s Moon and Mars: your inner climate, what you will need to hold steady, where to put your energy and where not to waste it.

  • A calendar of key periods

The major transits on your natal chart and on the year’s chart, month by month: the rising phases, the passages to get through, the moments to decide.

  • How to move through the year

For each axis, concrete leads: what is best launched, held back, prepared. Not predictions: a user’s guide to your year.

How it is possible, explained simply

  1. The Sun returns to the same point every year

Seen from Earth, the Sun travels the zodiac in one year. Every year it passes again, to the minute, through the degree it occupied at your birth. That happens around your birthday: sometimes the day itself, sometimes the day before or after. This return is called the solar return.

  2. We photograph the sky of that moment

At that precise moment, a complete chart is cast, as for a birth, but for the place where you are at that time. That chart is your year-ahead chart: an Ascendant, a Moon, planets in houses, aspects, valid until the Sun’s next return.

  3. We read it with your natal chart

The year’s chart only makes sense in relation to who you are: I lay it over your natal chart to see which part of your life it activates, and I add the year’s major transits (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). That crossing is what gives a precise portrait of the twelve months.

  4. Why it is different from a horoscope

A yearly horoscope speaks to everyone born under a sign. The year-ahead chart is calculated on your exact time and place: two people of the same sign have radically different years. It is a personal reading, not a column.

What it says, concretely

  • The year’s Ascendant falls in your natal 10th house

A year of visibility: your work, your image, your place are at the centre. What you do gets seen. It is the year to dare to ask, to show up, to take a role.

  • The year’s Saturn on your natal Moon

A more inward year, sometimes heavier, where you sort through your attachments and habits. Not a bad year: a year of foundations, provided you don’t isolate yourself.

  • Jupiter in the year’s 7th house

Relationships widen: an encounter, a commitment, a partnership, or a couple that breathes better. The trap: promising too much. The lever: choosing.

  • The year’s Moon in the 4th house

Home, family, the need to settle become the emotional thread. A move, a renovation, a return to your roots: the year is lived from home.

When to order?

The ideal moment: in the month before or after your birthday, so you enter the year knowing where you stand. But a year-ahead chart can be read at any time: if your birthday was six months ago, I read the current year, what has already played out and what is still to come. You can also ask for next year to prepare. You choose when ordering.

How it works

  1. 1

You enter your birth details and the year

Date, time and city of birth, the city where you are on your birthday, and the year you want read: the current one or the next. A few lines of context if you wish.

  2. 2

I cast and read your year-ahead chart

I calculate the exact moment of the Sun’s return, cast the chart, lay it over your natal chart and the year’s transits, and compose the reading: tone, central area, calendar.

  3. 3

You receive the PDF within 2 hours

15 to 20 pages, with the year’s chart wheel, read and signed by me. To reread over the months, like a roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

What is a solar return?

It is the precise moment, every year, when the Sun returns to the exact degree of the zodiac it occupied at your birth. It falls around your birthday, within a few hours. The chart cast for that moment is called the solar return chart, or more simply the year-ahead chart: it describes the dynamics of the twelve months that follow, until the Sun’s next return.

How is it different from my natal chart?

The natal chart is your permanent portrait: it never changes. The year-ahead chart changes every year: it is the weather of the twelve months ahead, read through your portrait. One says who you are, the other says what this year activates in you. If you have never had your natal chart read, start there: the year’s chart follows from it.

Does it predict what will happen to me?

The year-ahead chart describes dynamics, activated areas and periods, not dated events. It says “this year your professional life comes to the fore and spring is the time to decide”, not “you will be promoted on 12 April”. That is far more useful: you know where to look, when to push and when to wait, and the decision stays yours.

Do I need to know my birth time?

Yes, more than for any other chart: the exact moment of the Sun’s return depends on your birth time, and so does the year’s Ascendant. If you don’t know it to the hour, say so: I then read the year’s planets in signs and aspects, without houses, and I say so. It is more general but still telling.

Which place should I enter: my birth city or where I live?

The one where you are at the moment of your birthday. The year-ahead chart is calculated for the place where you are when the Sun returns, not for your birthplace. If you are travelling that day, enter the city you are travelling to. That is also why some people choose where to spend their birthday.

When should I order?

Ideally around your birthday, a month before or after, to approach the year knowingly. But nothing stops you reading the current year at any time: you will see what has already played out and what is still to come. You can also ask for next year in advance.

Is it the same as a yearly horoscope?

No. A magazine’s or website’s yearly horoscope speaks to everyone born under a sign, one twelfth of humanity. The year-ahead chart is calculated on your date, time and place: it is unique, and it is read by an astrologer who relates it to your natal chart and your situation.

Do I need to redo it every year?

Yes, that is the principle: every birthday opens a new year-ahead chart, different from the previous one. Many people make it a yearly ritual, like a review and a roadmap. If you have already ordered a year-ahead chart, mention it: I connect it with the past year.

How is it different from transits?

Transits are the passage of today’s planets over your natal chart: a continuous thread, useful for a precise date. The year-ahead chart is a photograph taken once a year, giving the overall structure of the twelve months. The two complement each other, and the year-ahead chart includes the period’s major transits in its calendar.

How is the text written?

I calculate and cast the chart, I read it over your natal chart, I choose what matters for your year, and I compose the reading using my tools for the layout. The reading, the hierarchy and the final validation are mine: every year-ahead chart goes through my hands and carries my name.
